Allure Asked Five Surgeons About Glutemaxxing. Here Is the Sixth Answer.

Mewing, mogging, looksmaxxing, and now glutemaxxing. Allure ran the word past five plastic surgeons on October 13 (Allure) and got a split: some see more men asking about the buttock, some see none, and one points out that far fewer men go through with it than talk about it. I wrote about looksmaxxing when it hit my consult room. Same family, same answer.

“We’ve been using alloClae very often. I’m one of the early adopters, and actually one of the first 20 surgeons who was invited to start using alloClae, more than a year ago. The most common places we’re using it are in the breast, in liposuction contour irregularities, and in the buttock, especially for projection or to fill in the hip dips. We’re performing this procedure at least two to four times per week, so it has become a very popular therapy.”

The Shape Is the Whole Argument

“Also, when we do buttock fat grafting in men, we usually skip fat grafting to the hips, because we want to avoid a feminine curvature and instead project the gluteus maximus muscle.”

The Man Who Would Not Take a Day Off

“The first patient, highlighted in the story, actually had enough fat in the flank area, so we could have done a BBL. But he is a professional who did not have any downtime and wanted to get back to work the next day. He preferred alloClae, since it is done with local anesthesia and he can return to work the next day and to exercise within a week. He favored this type of procedure and liked it so much that he repeated it a few months later for further volume.”

When Fat Is Not Enough

“Implants I really recommend if what you’re looking for is more projection. It does give us better projection than fat. With the implant we can really tell how much you’re going to get in projection, because it will pop. Fat is a little bit squishier, so it doesn’t pop as much. But it does give you a nice shape.”

Who Should Stay in the Gym

Allure’s closing line is that most men want to feel athletic, and the gym does that better than my table. Agreed. The men I treat are the ones the gym already failed: the lean patient with no fat to move, the GLP-1 patient who lost the volume along with the weight, and the professional who will not take two weeks off.

“The other thing I am seeing often is that the patient feels better and is healthier, but the body, with the loose skin, is not showing that externally. So many men are coming in for gynecomastia and tummy tucks, and some men are coming in to restore the volume they have lost in the buttock, where we do liposuction and fat grafting.”
